About Sora Kim

Ms. Kim is a tax lawyer and licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, New York, District of Columbia, the U.S. Tax Court, and the Supreme Court.

Currently, Ms. Kim is an LL.M. (Master of Laws) Candidate at the Georgetown University Law Center.  She was a Student Note Mentor on The Tax Lawyer from 2015-2016.

Previously, Ms. Kim was a HomeCorps Attorney associated with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, the HomeCorps Program, and the National Consumer Law Center.  As a HomeCorps Attorney and Staff Attorney, she worked directly for Community Legal Aid and she was based out of Worcester, Massachusetts.  Her legal aid concentrations were pre-foreclosure law, loan modification, post-foreclosure litigation, mortgages, tax liens, and consumer rights.  She also focuses on matters related to the Independent Foreclosure Review and the Office of Comptroller Currency Settlement.

Prior to starting the Legal Biscuit blog in 2011, Ms. Kim was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of High Technology Law where she started the JHTL Blog.  She graduated from Suffolk University Law School in 2011.  While at Suffolk, Ms. Kim participated in the prestigious Suffolk Prosecutors Clinical Program and was a student prosecutor at one of the most busiest and challenging criminal courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

In 2011, Ms. Kim was awarded the “Social Justice Champion of the Year” Award by the Chelsea Collaborative through her legal and community work in Chelsea, Massachusetts.  When she was living in Washington DC, Ms. Kim was honored with the “Denise M. Clark Award for Excellence in Workers’ Rights” through her volunteering with the DC Employment Justice Center.  After attending the George Washington University for college where she majored in political science and minored in history, Ms. Kim worked for several years at two major Washington DC law firms and gained valuable experience in corporate law and antitrust.

Professional and Community Involvement

Ms. Kim is a member of the American Bar Association, Bryant Inn of Court, and formerly the Boston Inn of Court.

Ms. Kim serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Guardian Community Trust.
